HomeMy WebLinkAboutTownline Road Bridge Project Information. Structure Information Existing Proposed Year Constructed:1950 2026 Type:Single-Span Concrete w/ Steel Girders Single-Span Concrete w/ Steel Girders Overall Width:19’-4” (One- Lane Road) 31’-4” Lane Width:8’-0”9’-0” Shoulder Width:0’-0”4’-0” (North) 6’-0” (South) Span Length:32’-0”70’-0” Service Life:N/A 75 Years Anticipated Construction Cost: $2,029,000 Tompkins County Townline Road over Lick Brook Bridge Replacement Town of Ithaca, New York Project Objectives Address as many deficiencies as practical and restore the long-term structural integrity of the bridge using cost effective techniques to minimize the cost of maintenance and repairs. Proposed Alternative The proposed alternative is to completely remove and replace the existing structure. The structure will be replaced on an adjusted horizontal and vertical alignment. New cast-in-place concrete substructures will be constructed on each side of the stream. Approximately 650 feet of Townline Road will be reconstructed including subbase, pavement and guide railing to tie the bridge into the existing approaches. Work Zone Traffic Control Traffic will be maintained using an off-site detour for the duration of construction. The proposed signed detour route will be 2.2 miles long, and will take approximately 5 minutes to drive, consisting of W. Jersey Hill Rd, King Rd West, and Sandbank Rd. No accommodations for pedestrians or cyclists are planned as part of the detour. Access to all local residences and driveways on Townline Road will be maintained throughout the duration of construction. Hydraulics Based on a hydraulic analysis, the existing and proposed bridges are adequately sized. The proposed structure will satisfy all NYSDOT hydraulic requirements. Right-Of-Way The existing highway boundary along Townline Road is 49.50 feet. Three FEE takings will be required for excavation, and installation of the bridge. The proposed FEE takings will total 0.415 acres.
