In each sleeping room. 2. Outside each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms. 3. On each additional story the dwelling, including basements and habitable attics and not including crawl spaces and uninhabitable attics.... 4. Smoke alarms shall be installed not less than 3 feet (914 mm) horizontally from the door or opening of a bathroom that contains a bathtub or shower unless this would prevent placement of a smoke alarm required by Section R314.3. §R314.4 Interconnection. Where more than one smoke alarm is required to be installed within an individual dwelling unit in accordance with Section R314.3, the alarm devices shall be interconnected ... Exception: Interconnection of smoke alarms in existing areas shall not be rec[uired where alterations or repairs do not result in removal of interior wall or ceiling finishes exposing the structure, unless there is an attic, crawl space or basement available that could provide access for interconnection without the removal of interior finishes. §R314.2.2 ... in existing dwellings. ... as required by Appendix RJ. §RAJ403.2 Smoke alarms. When repairs requiring a permit occur, the individual dwelling unit shall be provided with smoke alarms located as required for new dwellings; the smoke alarms shall be interconnected and hard wired. Exception: In other than bed and breakfast dwellings, carbon monoxide alarms shall be permitted to be battery operated when installed in buildings without commercial power or an on-site electrical power system, or in buildings where existing interior wall or ceiling finishes are not removed to expose the structure. Bedroom wired for smoke alarm. I discussed w/ the homeowner the need to install a smoke/ CO outside the bedroom (which would be the living rm). I explained that in this situation, where they did not open up the walls nor ceiling in the living room, that a battery operated one would meet the code. Tioga Street Town of Ithaca Results: I met on site w/ Joe Cammarata, homeowner, & Adam Coyle, contractor. Many unknowns until excavation is done. Single story structure in this portion of the house. Contractor specializes in basement work, talks a good game (I haven't worked w/ him before), says he will call regularly for inspections, & invited me to stop in anytime. I yet to review plans. Page 3 of 3 Phone: 607-387-4825 Fax: 607-216-9414 E-mail:info@midstatebasement.com 233 Cherry St Ithaca, NY 14850 www.midstatebasement.com -Proposal 10/6/2017- Customer: Work to be performed at: Joe Cammarata Same 1532 Slaterville Road Ithaca, NY 14850 We hereby propose to furnish the materials and perform the labor necessary for the completio n of: Foundation replacement as follows:  The following scope of work is as specified and designed by Taitem Engineering, Ithaca, NY.  Underground utilities will be located and marked by Dig Safe NY, coordinated by contractor.  All drywall will be removed and hauled off site.  All items to be removed from work area by others.  Air movers will be utilized to minimize dust and disturbance but it is important to note that proposed work can create notice able dust and disturbance to living space.  Temporary shoring will be installed to allow for concrete wall removal.  Deteriorated portions of walls will be demolished and hauled off site. Affected areas include 12’ of back wall and 13’ of side wall.  Side wall and back walls will be excavated to bottom of footing to a llow access to existing drain and footing,  Proposal is based on sound framing. A change order will be created, if needed to repair any framing repairs.  #4 epoxy coated rebar will be installed at 48” on center vertically from floor to top of wall.  #4 rebar pins will be epoxied into any remaining sound concrete as directed by engineer.  Two layers of W2.9 6x6 welded wire mesh will be installed, tied to all rebar.  Surrounding areas will be protected from overspray with plastic as needed.  Shotcrete mix will be sprayed onto affected walls to match existing thickness and will be finished smooth.  Footer drain will be replaced along affected walls.  Drywall installation and finishing by others.  Affected area will be backfilled with excavated gravel.  All debris will be cleaned and hauled away. Proposed work is eligible for 6 months same as cash financing. Other payment term options for financing include 12 mont h and 24 month. All Material is guaranteed to be as specified, and the above work to be performed in accordance with the drawings and specifications submitted for above work, and completed in a substantial workmanlike manner for the sum of $23,598 (twenty three thousand five hundred ninety eight dollars) with payments to be made as follows: $2,300 due at proposal signing, $ 2,400 due upon commencement of work, $18,898 due upon completion.
