Dear Mr. Tenebaum:
So far we have been unsuccessful in working out arrangements
with the County concerning the Pine Tree Road drainage prob
lems, referred to in your letter of June 17, 1980. In the
meantime, Mr. Fabbroni and I are looking into the desirabil
ity of intercepting the runoff upstream of the pronerty at
202 Pine Tree Road, by constructing a culvert across Snyder
Hill Road.
We will keep you informed of our progress and hope to have
some resolution of the matter accomplished before winter.
Very truly yours.

Dear Ron:
I am responding to your November 23, 1981 letter to County
Attorney Robert I. Williamson concerning the drainage facil
ities at your Coddington Road property. I am sorry to learn
that you experienced some damage to your property.
We believe there has been no significant change in the drain
age basin feeding water to your property. For example, the
Rich Road culvert crossing has existed since the original
roadway was constructed, although the pipe itself may have
been replaced a few years ago. It is also apparent that the
existing culvert, under the County highway, predates the
construction of your house. Unfortunately, your basement
floor elevation is only 1.14 feet above the top of the culvert
under the Coddington Road. With the road surface above your
basement floor level, there is considerable potential for
reverse flow of water in your footing drain. It may be in
your best interest to install a back flow preventor in the
footing drain to help mitigate this problem.
Finally, I do not respond on behalf of the County, but it is
' quite clear that normal minicipal drainage design standards
cannot be expected to adequately handle storms expected to
occur only once in 200 years. As a Town, we were very lucky
in escaping more serious property damage. Our neighbors to
the north, in Dryden, were less fortunate.
I believe this response will help us both understand the
drainage situation in your area better. We will do our best
-2-February 8, 1982
to keep the drainage system limitations In mind, as we plan
for the future. Do not hesitate to call me If you wish to
discuss the matter further.
