TB Resolution 2022 - 089: Authorization for the Town Engineer to issue a Sewer Exemption for TP28.-1-3.62;14 Max’s Drive
Whereas the Town Engineer received a request for a Sewer Exemption from JasonTaylor-14Max’s Drive, TP 28.-1-3.62;stating the financial difficulty to connect to municipal sewer.
Whereasthe applicant has reviewed possible connection to the Town Sanitary Sewer System for construction of their new home. The nearest town sewer main is located approximately4300+/-
feet away on lands N/F Eco-Village at Ithaca, Inc.Estimated minimum cost to extend the town sewer to this location is $860,000. The cost to connect would be substantially more than the
value of the home they wish to construct ($400,000), and
Resolved, that pursuant to Town Code Section 214-6, the Town Board hereby finds that the applicant has shown unusual and extreme practical difficulties in connecting to the public sewers
for the reasons detailed in Jason Taylor’srequest to the Town, and be it further
Resolved, that the Town Board authorizes the Town Engineer to issue an exemption from the Town Code Section 214-5 public sewer connection requirement for TP’s 28.-1-3.62for the installation
of a new, onsite wastewater treatment system associated with their new home construction to be constructed on the properties, subject to the consent of the Tompkins County Health Department
to this exemption.
