TB Resolution 2023 - 092:Request for Speed Limit Reduction inthe Southwoods Subdivision including the Roads Southwoods Drive, Eldridge Circle, and Old Gorge Road
Whereas,the Town Board has received a request from residents of theSouthwoods Subdivision, located on South Hill for a reduction of the speed limit, and
Whereas,the residents of this highly densified neighborhood stated they have concerns about the safety of pedestrians and the number of speeding vehicles as well as the lack of speed
limit signs in the area as factors supporting their request, and
Whereas the Public Works Department discussed the request at the Public Works Committee meeting on May 16th, 2023,and theCommittee recommended the reduction to the Town Board, now therefore
be it
Resolved, that the Town Board requests Tompkins County forward to New York State Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division the Town’s request to reduce the speed limit in
the Southwoods Subdivisionroads, including:Southwoods Drive, Eldridge Circle, and Old Gorge Road,offKing RoadEast to an area speed limit of25 mph.
