TB Resolution 2024-07 : Authorizing the submission of an application for a NYS Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant for the East Shore Drive Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety
Corridor Project.
Whereas, the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca after due consideration, has determined
that it is desirable and in the public interest to submit a grant application under the NYS TransportationAlternatives Program (TAP); and
Whereas, the Project shall be titled “East Shore Drive Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Corridor”(Project); and
Whereas, the Project will improve the safety for pedestrians and bicyclists, linking existing multi-use trail infrastructure on approximately 700’ of EastShore Drive (NYS-34) between
Boynton Middle School (N. Cayuga Street) and the Ithaca Youth Bureau (James L. Gibbs Dr.) on this key corridor providing animportant link to Stewart Park and the Cayuga Waterfront Trail
for walkers, joggers, and cyclists of all ages and from variousCity of Ithaca neighborhoods, as well as nearby Town of Ithaca and Village of Cayuga Heights neighborhoods; and
Whereas, the total project cost is estimated to be one million and four hundred and thirty-three thousand dollars ($1,433,000.00) intended to cover the design and construction with reimbursement
expected at the ratio of 80% grant funds and 20% local match; and
Whereas, The Town Board acknowledges that, if the grant is awarded, the Town of Ithaca will pay in the first instance 100% of the cost of Engineering, ROW and Construction work for the
Project or portions thereof, with the understanding that qualified costs may be eligible for grant reimbursement; and
Resolved, the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca hereby authorizes the submission of an
application for a NYS Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant and authorizes the Supervisor, or his designee, to execute all relateddocuments for this submission, and be it further
Resolved, the Town of Ithaca is committed to completing the Project as per the project
