HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB 2024-087 Sewer Exemption for 602 Elmira RdMEETING OF THE ITHACA TOWN BOARD August 26, 2024 TB Resolution 2024 -87: Authorization for the Town Engineer to issue a Sewer Exemption for 602 Elmira Road Whereas the Town Engineer received a request for a Sewer Exemption from MBL Engineering, PLLC on behalf ofRundra Management,the owners of602 Elmira Rd (Tax Parcel No. 31.-3-4),indicatingthere is no direct access to town sewer and identifying the difficulties associated with connecting to municipal sewer due to the nearest sewer main(s) being approximately 200+/- feet away, and also indicating the proposed self-storage facility on the property will only have one bathroom accessible during limited hours and the cost is not practical for the intended small use of the facility, and Whereas the owners willhave a septic system engineered for the property in conformance with and approved by Tompkins County Whole Health, now therefore it be Resolved, pursuant to Town of Ithaca Code, Chapter 214-6, “Exemptions,” the Town Board finds the applicant has shown unusual and extreme practical difficulties in connecting to municipal sewer for the reasons conveyed by town staff and the detailed in the submitted request, dated July 1st, 2024, and be it further Resolved, that the Town Board authorizes the Town Engineer to issue an exemption from the Town of Ithaca Code,Chapter 214-5,“Connection required,” for 602 Elmira Rd, for the installation of a new, onsite wastewater treatment system associated with the proposed development subject to the following conditions: The number of bathroom facilities on the property does not change The consent of the Tompkins County Health Department.
