HomeMy WebLinkAboutAnnexation Maple Ave denied 1970sProposed annexation of Maple Ave area by the City of Ithaca,from/against the Town of Ithaca Seems to have been unsuccessful PETITION FOR ANNEXATION .-K FOR THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF ITHACA,OF TERRITORY ADJOINING SAID CITY,IN THE TOWN OF ITHACA,TOMPKINS COUNTY,NEW YORK FOR PRESENTATION TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ITHACA,AND THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF ITHACA PURSUANT to Article 17 of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York,as amended,the petitioners herein, (as consenting property owner) CORNELL UNIVERSItV,and the NEW YORK STATE URBAN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION,petition for annexation,to the City of Ithaca,of all the territory which is not in a city or village,which is in the Town of Ithaca,Tompkins County,New York,which adjoins said city,and which is described in paragraph "2"of this petition; and the petitioners state therefor as follows: That the City of Ithaca is and for over fifty years1. last past has been an incorporated city in the Town of Ithaca, County of Tompkins,State of New York. Petitioners petition to have annexed to said city.2. territory in the Town of Ithaca,Tompkins County,New York,which territory adjoins said city;said territory,which petitioners petition to have so annexed,is described as follows;ALL THAT TRACT AND PARCEL OF LAND situate in the Town of Ithaca,County of Tompkins and State of New York,owned by Cornell University and bounded on the north by the south line of Maple Avenue; bounded on the south by the north line of Mitchell Street -Ellis Hollow Road;bounded on the west by the east boundary of the City of Ithaca;and bounded on the east by the following described line,beginning at a point on the south boundary line of Maple Avenue being the northwesterly corner of a parcel owned by the City of Ithaca,as shown on a map dated November 12,1936,in the City Engineer's office,said parcel being conveyed to the City of Ithaca by deed recorded in the Tompkins County Clerk's office in Liber 176 of Deeds at page 160 running thence S 2®23 30 E,a distance of 285.20 feet to a pin;running thence S 79®11'40"E, a distance of 379.26 feet.to a point on the east line of the premises owned by the East Lawn Cemetery Association;running thence S J29°49 W,a distance of 410 feet to an iron pin; running thence S 1®49 E, a distance of 627.59 feet,to a point on the north line of Mitchell Street Ellis Hollow Road. JACThepremises described herein,c 4.792 +acres of land to be conveyed by Cornell University to the New York State rv Urban Development Corporation*^- TOGETHER^all that tract or parcel of land deeded to the City of Ithaca and recorded in the Tompkins County Clerk's office in Liber 176 of Deeds at page 160whereon is situated a water storage tank owned by the City of Ithaca and bounded on the north by Maple Avenue,bounded on the south by lands owned by Cornell University,bounded on the east by lands owned by Cornell Univer sity and bounded on the west by lands owned by Cornell University. <Zo~The petitioner,Cornell University,herein is the3. owner of the majority in assessed valuation of the property in -2- said territory (which territory is described in paragraph ”2 of this petition)assessed upon the last preceding Town Assessment Roll of the Town of Ithaca.
